YOUR WORK:

How did you get started with Salesforce?

All the way back in 2013, I worked in Marketing. Then, same as now, I was always open to a challenge and liked figuring things out. So when my boss mentioned they just got their Salesforce Org and needed someone to take ownership and help make it work for them, I gladly took up that offer and jumped right in.

Mainly it was a lot of clicking through every possible Salesforce screen to see what was possible, pre-Trailhead times and all. It definitely wasn’t easy, but I loved every step of it and would always do it again! Since then I administered multiple Orgs from small 30-user Orgs to large Orgs with over 500 users. I worked as a solo Admin and was also able to build and manage my own SF team of amazing Admins and Developers in the past.

At some point the next logical step for me and my career was to enter the consulting space in 2019, tackling my next chosen challenge of mastering CPQ.

What’s your favorite thing about building solutions with Salesforce?

It is great to be challenged to find creative solutions to complex problems on a platform that is so versatile and ever growing and improving. Especially in the Salesforce Consulting space, where you get to see so many unique businesses with intriguing business challenges.

Salesforce gives you so many options to get things done and build solutions from clicks to code to managed packages that simply need to be installed. But if I have to pick favorites here, my go to tool in Salesforce is definitely Flow. If you need something automated, there is a very high chance it can be done in Flow… just let me build for you 🙂

What energizes you at work?

I love being able to help not only businesses, but the individual people within to make their processes more efficient, enable them to utilize the platform to work for them. There is nothing better than seeing the happy smile and hearing the tone of relief when someone that was so frustrated with their tedious day to day, working around broken processes, finally being able to click one button and have the system do the next 10 steps for them, quickly, efficiently, and reliably.

Sometimes, it does not even have to be this complex, it could be one extremely simple thing, like a formula, a workflow, a custom list view, an automated email or notification and it can make a huge difference in someone’s workday.

Name a work achievement you’re proud of.

It is very hard to narrow this down to one specific thing! I think I am proud of my whole path, how I got here, establishing myself in the Salesforce space over the last 8 years after coming to the US from Germany; which was never planned. I think I just made the best of the situation wherever my path took me, overcoming challenges one by one.

YOUR MINDSET:

Who or what inspires you?

The marvel of life itself, and having the privilege of being alive.

What’s one thing you’re learning now? (professional or personal)

I am teaching myself to play piano, which is a very long, tedious process when you don’t read music and have to memorize the keys from watching others play. It is definitely involving a lot of frustration with my left hand when the finger coordination is off and other times just wishing I had longer fingers for a better reach!

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

honest, detailed, dedicated.

JUST FOR FUN:

What could we find you doing outside of work?

Mostly I am just spending time with my husband and dogs. We like doing some outdoor things whenever the Florida temperatures drop, or when we are out of State.

What trend do you hope makes a comeback?

Bell-bottom jeans

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

I will gladly come to the karaoke bar and cheer you on, but you won’t ever find me on that stage myself!

Welcome, Colleen! We’re putting together an incredible team of consultants – get to know them!
