How did you get started with Salesforce?
Classic accidental admin story! The company I was at at the time was implementing sales cloud for their entire 200-person org and not one of us knew a lick about it. I, being in the marketing department, was tasked with figuring it out, building it, while liaising with our implementation partner, IT dept, and sales management folks.
What’s your favorite thing about building solutions with Salesforce?
The broader Salesforce admin/consultant community. Many times your current challenge has been approached by others and solutions exists for unique situations. There are so many supportive folks out there willing to lend a hand to hash out a particular solution with you. Further, the self-study options Salesforce provides in the for of Trailhead and the Partner Learning camp are amazing. When you combine that with the excellent third party websites out there, you have an amazing community and ecosystem. It’s easy for a hungry individual to thrive.
What energizes you at work?
Architecting a creative solution to a unique problem. Learning new functionality and applying it. A lot of our client’s requirements are like mini-puzzles. The dopamine rush of figuring those out is a rush!
Name a work achievement you’re proud of.
Successfully doing a legacy data migration on 100k contracts and 500k subscription lines for a client who was implementing MDQ in their new CPQ org. If you know, you know.
